On that afternoon at around 3:00 PM, at Shuhui Zhaowen Huacheng in Xiaoshan District, an alarm suddenly sounded in the fire control center, warning of a fire breaking out on the eighth floor of Unit 1. In a fire emergency, every second counts, and a fire alert is an imperative order. Upon receiving the instruction, He Lizhi, a Binjiang Property patroller, promptly reached the building on fire and noticed a strong smell of smoke from the corridor. He acted decisively in this critical moment, grabbing a fire extinguisher from the fire hydrant in the corridor and rushing into the slightly ajar entrance door. Inside, the room was filled with thick smoke, and flames were flaring up on the kitchen stove. Without hesitation, He Lizhi immediately extinguished the initial fire source with the extinguisher, avoiding a potentially much larger disaster.
Later, the customer service foreman and the steward arrived to calm the resident, and three cleaners were sent to assist the resident in tidying up the kitchen and the living room. The resident expressed heartfelt gratitude repeatedly to the property management team for their timely help.
Upon investigation, the cause of the fire was that the resident, while steaming buns in the kitchen, left to chat at the connecting corridor with the adjacent unit, unaware that the water in the pot had dried up, therefore triggering the fire. She was still clueless about the situation when she saw the patroller entering her house with an extinguisher.
Afterwards, the resident presented the service center with a banner inscribed with “Outstanding Guard for Property Security, True Hero in Fire Rescue” and some fruits as a token of appreciation. She said that the incident was a wake-up call, reminding her to always be vigilant about kitchen fire safety and never take it lightly.
In this incident, the patroller He Lizhi demonstrated remarkable response promptness and capacity and a strong sense of responsibility. His swift action not only safeguarded a single family but also ensured the security of the entire residential quarter.
