Myriad Star Explores New Approaches of Smart Noise Management for a “Tranquil Home”

In Hangzhou Myriad Star, the noise from square dancing has become an urgent problem to be solved by the Community and the property management staff as it has seriously interfered with the normal life of many residents in the residential quarter, leading to constant complaints lodged with the property management service center.

But how to build a “Tranquil Home”? In Myriad Star in the north of Hangzhou, the Myriad Star Community and Binjiang Property are working together to explore a new way of smart noise management.

In mid-November, in the small square of Myriad Star, residents who gathered early to dance and exercise started to use the new equipment, which is the directional audio equipment specially configured by Myriad Star Community for square dancing, capable of effectively controlling the spread of sound. “Now the music we play will no longer exceed the decibel limit because the system has set up the whole thing for us. We are also very glad that we will no longer disturb others while dancing,” said an enthusiastic lady. Next to the square, there is also a noise monitor to constantly monitor whether the noise is too loud. When the decibel is higher than the limit, the value will be displayed in orange and there will be a “Volume Down” alert. With these new devices, residents are able to enjoy square dancing without worries, and the complaints from neighboring residents have consequently reduced to zero.





Various Science-based and digital intelligence-supported approaches are taken to reduce noise and build a “Tranquil Home”. As an important link of front-end targeted governance, the installation of directional audio equipment for square dancing takes care of the exercise needs of fitness groups and also guarantees a quiet environment for other residents. The noise generated by the air conditioning outdoor units of shops is another prominent problem of the residential quarter. To reduce such noise, the Community and Binjiang Property’s service center at Myriad Star installed air-conditioning outdoor unit covers for shops on the entrance side of each building. The noise generated by passing vehicles at the entrance of the underground parking garage is also a significant concern affecting the lives of nearby residents. Drawing inferences from other residential quarters, the service center successfully reduced the noise by simply installing shock-absorbing rubber belts at the drainage ditch of the garage entrance, achieving a noticeable result with minimal investment.




In Myriad Star Phase I, the concept of “Tranquil Home” is promoted via the electronic screen at the residential quarter entrance, the TV screens in the building lobbies, and the bulletin board of the residential quarter. In conjunction with the online promotion by the Community, it calls on proprietors to jointly protect the tranquility of the residential quarter. The noise monitoring points are also set up in the residential quarter to strengthen the precision and digital intelligence of noise pollution prevention and control relying on noise maps, noise tracing, and other information means.



According to director Sun of the property management service center of Myriad Star Phase I, the decoration management that proprietors are concerned with a lot has also been included in the “Tranquil Home” governance plan. We expect a tranquil, peaceful, and harmonious home shared and jointly maintained by the Community, property management staff, and proprietors.
