The typhoon In-Fa has now left Zhejiang. But, as large and lumbering as it is, it still has great influence on Zhejiang. At residential quarters of Binjiang Property, there were trees knocked down by the strong wind, and great ponding on the pavements due to the torrential rain. Binjiang property management staff built up protection walls in advance and successfully held the underground garages and saved the situation for proprietors regardless of all the wind and rain.

The property management staff of Shangyu Long Shan Guan Di in Shaoxing saw the real power of In-Fa and its harm to the residential quarter. They chose to face up and fight against the typhoon.

The continuous rainfall and flood waters released from the upstream led to continuous rise of the water level of Shangyu Cao’e River and the river outside the residential quarter.

On July 25th, the service center of Shangyu Long Shan Guan Di informed proprietors in advance to transfer their vehicles to the ground and made full preparation for flood control and typhoon resistance.

A sudden danger appeared in Long Shan Guan Di at 7:55 on July 26th. At the ramp entrance of the basement of Building 38, beside the curbstone of the green area, flowed a stream of water. The project director checked the situation immediately and ordered engineering staff and order team members to strengthen drainage.

At about 8:40, the water of the peripheral river suddenly made a breach and flowed to the ramp of the basement of Building 38. The service center urgently noticed proprietors to move valuables at the basement upstairs and, at the same time, reported the emergency to the proprietors’ committee, the real estate company, the subdistrict community, and the regional branch of Binjiang Property, all of whom sent assistance to Long Shan Guan Di actively.

At 9:00, the river water overflowed and began to flow into the residential quarter. The water level in the residential quarter soon became flush with the water level of outdoor collecting water wells. To combat the beast-like flood, the service center initiated the emergency plan immediately.

To win the fight against the flood, there must be adequate materials and personnel. At about 9:00, over 100 persons, including more than 30 from Long Shan Guan Di project, 25 from the project of Shangyu area, 20 from Tongsheng Real Estate, 6 from subdistrict community, and over 40 helpful proprietors, were soon gathered. 30 persons sent by the regional branch in Hangzhou also arrived that afternoon.

Tongsheng Real Estate generously supplied a great quantity of materials for typhoon resistance, including 8 trucks of sand, 500 bags, and some water pumps, and the regional branch of Binjiang Property also delivered additional materials. What worth mentioning is that proprietors also contributed 4 water pumps as well as sand, strips of cloth, woven bags that were originally prepared for house decoration.

That day, the property management staff was deeply touched by scenes they had never seen before. It was a relay. Female proprietors filled and tied up sandbags; male proprietors carried sandbags to the basement entrance; and property management staff and personnel from the real estate company piled up sandbags to form a wall. During the course, other proprietors also sent milk, meat baozi, and packed lunches to all those who fought on the front line.

At around 15:15, the water rose to 1.2m, which was the unprecedented level. But thanks to everyone’s effort, the height of the sandbag wall was 1.6m then and effectively kept the water out of the basement.

At about 17:00, the water fell very slowly by 3cm. But no one slacked off because no one knew if the water will rise again. Property management staff committed to going to all lengths to combat typhoon In-Fa and not retreating unless In-Fa disappears.

With the flood discharge and drainage by municipal personnel outside the residential quarter, the property management staff found it useful to pump water at night. At about 23:00, the water finally drained away through efforts of various parties, and the residential quarter restored its tranquility. By then, the height of the sandbag wall has reached 2.1m, and the property management staff has been working for continuous 15 hours.

“I’m so surprised and relieved to see Binjiang Property workers from different places come and help us. And I’ll appeal other proprietors to pay property management fees tomorrow,” said an excited proprietor. “I really appreciate what the property management staff has done. I think I can have a good rest tonight,” said another proprietor.

Unsuited to its beautiful name, In-Fa is a ruthless typhoon. Binjiang Property strengthened consideration of the worst-case scenario and did all what it can to protect proprietors. When the extreme weather occurred, the property management staff and proprietors united together like a family to overcome all difficulties and resume the peaceful life of everyone.
