Micro Firefighting Station of Golden Dawn Was Praised by Subdistrict Office for Well-trained and Courageous Firefighting Action
On the morning of October 9th, a silk banner that read “Well-trained, Courageous, Effective, Responsible” was granted to the service center of Hangzhou Golden Dawn Phase I by Jianqiao Subdistrict under which jurisdiction the residential quarter is, showing the recognition of the Subdistrict Office for the micro firefighting station’s brave and effective actions of fighting the fire and rescuing proprietor’s property from the fire at a critical moment.
At about 20:30 on October 6th, in Hangzhou Golden Dawn Phase I, an order team member on patrol noticed some smoke from a balcony on the 10th floor. He rushed to that house immediately, but it turned out that the proprietor was neither home nor able to come home timely after the steward reached the proprietor. As the smoke was getting thicker and thicker, the neighbor helped call 110. At the same time, Binjiang Property staff called 119 and were attempting a rescue.
The micro firefighting station of Golden Dawn made an emergency rescue plan and decided to break into the burning house by abseiling. Wu Qingqiang, the brave and skilled leader of the micro firefighting station, showed no fear of heights and successfully abseiled down and entered the balcony on 10th floor from 11th floor.
At the balcony on 10th floor, to avoid feeding the fire with more air, Wu Qingqiang calmly made a narrow opening of the door at the balcony. Keeping a low posture for own safety, he entered the room to find the source of the fire and finally put out the fire with three extinguishers, reducing the loss to the minimum.
Soon, the firefighters arrived. According to the field investigation, it was preliminarily believed that the short circuit of the television had led to the fire.
Wu Qingqiang was sitting on the ground exhaustedly when found. He dropped his mask during abseiling and felt unwell due to smoke inhalation while putting out the fire. The community staff and property management staff sent him to the hospital immediately. Fortunately, he was almost okay and was advised to take two days off. But as devoted as Wu Qingqiang is, he returned to his post immediately the next day.
Micro firefighting stations are like nerve terminals and take on the indispensable role as the forerunner to open up the “last kilometer” of firefighting.
