If you smell something burning in the corridor or see smoke at a trash can on the floor, will you choose to ignore it or immediately report to the property manager and require to identify the situation and remove the hazard?
A similar situation occurred to Mr. Sun, a proprietor of Hangzhou Golden Landing, in this late March. Smelling the smoke in his home, Mr. Sun immediately reported to the property management staff who then finally focused on an apartment with no one in there on the 14th floor after 45 minutes of serious screening. The property management staff shut down the power, reported to the fire police, and initiated the emergency procedures.
The property management staff soon contacted the proprietor of this apartment and acquired the e-lock password. The room was found full of heavy smoke as the door was open. Finally, the firefighters arrived quickly, evacuated the smoke with professional equipment and cleared the danger.
Upon indoor inspection by the firefighters, it was believed that the smoke was caused by smolder of overheated electric blanket that the proprietor had forgotten to turn off on the bed. Fortunately, no naked flame was found since there was no air circulation because all doors and windows were closed. The firefighters warned that there might be serious consequences if the discovery was late, and meanwhile recognized the emergency measures of the property management staff.
Among six fire hazards of Hangzhou Golden Landing in 2018, 4 were first discovered and reported to the property management staff by proprietors, accounting for 66.67% of the total. What it reflects is increasingly strengthening fire awareness of proprietors.
In this regard, Director Zhang of the community property service center has her profound understanding. “There was a smoke alarm in March 2018, and our good performance in this event was reported by the media. Since then, we have put greater efforts into publicity of firefighting knowledge through various channels to appeal proprietors to protect our home together. Proprietors were touched and conscious of the significance of fire safety to everyone. Now we can see that the number of proprietors with good fire awareness has indeed increased a lot from their close attention to the community.”
