For frontline Binjiang Property staff, preparing Laba porridge for proprietors has become a tradition to ring in the New Year. Laba porridge is a delightful mix of ingredients and, in Lao She’s words, is like a miniature agricultural exhibition. A bowl of fragrant Laba porridge marks the prelude to the joyous and harmonious Spring Festival.
To make Laba porridge, the property management staff carefully selected eight ingredients. While there might be slight variations in the choice of ingredients across different service centers, the Laba porridge they made carried a deep, nostalgic yearning for home, vividly arousing the cherished memory of childhood when mothers got up early to simmer the porridge for their families. This year, the service center of Hangzhou Lansong’aofu was again busy with the Laba Festival event as in previous years. The property management staff started the preparation of Laba porridge from cooking to packaging in the early hours and didn’t stop until dawn. During the morning rush, bowls of sweet Laba porridge were distributed to passing residents, deliverymen, and sanitation workers. “The porridge really gives us a sign that the Spring Festival is coming!” said a deliveryman.

On the Laba Festival this year, the property management staff of Shanghai Binjiang Park One prepared red dates, dried longan, lotus seeds, red beans, red kidney beans, black rice, Job’s tears, and sticky rice for Laba porridge. The order team members started the preparation of Laba porridge at 5:00 a.m. By 7:00 a.m., the Laba porridge was ready to be delivered. In addition to the property management staff, police officers and members of the neighborhood committee also joined to deliver hot and sweet Laba porridge to elderly residents living alone in the residential quarter. That day, nearly 400 bowls of Laba porridge were distributed to residents, deliverymen, and sanitation workers. “The property management staff are very considerate and thoughtful and have greatly enhanced our sense of well-being living in Park One.” The proprietors praised that the porridge this year was fragrant and glutinous, and wished that the Laba porridge could bring a worry-free New Year with everything in place.

The property management staff of Hangzhou Lake Villa started distributing Laba porridge early in the morning of the 7th day of the twelfth lunar month. Over 300 bowls of deliciously fragrant Laba porridge received from a nearby temple were distributed to residents and deliverymen in the residential quarter. With the Laba Festival approaching, the property management staff were most concerned about the elderly residents. The stewards visited and greeted elderly residents one by one and brought them the special warmth of the Laba Festival.

Early in the morning of the Laba Festival, the property management staff at Yiwu Xiuchuan Mansion’s service center enthusiastically distributed thick Laba porridge to the residents, sending their best wishes for everything in life. Residents receiving the Laba porridge were beaming with smiles. “The Laba porridge makes the winter less cold. Thank you for preparing us the heartwarming porridge,” said Aunt Zhang gleefully.
