Late-night Firefighters Safeguard Peace of the Park

Prevention is always the key against fire that knows no mercy. On April 9th, the Cainiao Station at Hangzhou Xinlicheng sent a letter of gratitude to Binjiang Property’s service center at Xinlicheng, expressing their admiration for the property management team’s high sense of responsibility and well-trained emergency response capabilities demonstrated in a shop fire emergency. In the letter, they stated that it was the decisive actions and selfless dedication of the property management team that minimized the losses of their shop, which made them truly understand the importance of the property management team as safety guardians.
At 2:18 am on March 28th when the city was still deep in sleep, a crisis suddenly hit Xinlicheng Center in Yuhang District, Hangzhou City. A sudden alarm shattered the silence in the fire control room. The duty officer Chu Yongzhen stared intently at the surveillance screen and her heart skipped a beat as she noticed flames unexpectedly from an unattended courier station, quickly escalating into a raging fire.
Without a second thought, Chu Yongzhen grabbed the walkie-talkie and shouted, “Fire at the courier station! Go and check immediately!” The patrolling security personnel receiving the notice responded swiftly.
In just two minutes, the on-duty foreman Liu Junfeng and the patroller Lan Jianmin rushed to the scene like soldiers answering a battle cry.
Rush into the fire
It was a horrible scene. In the courier station, discarded cardboard boxes were fiercely burning, and the flames were spreading wildly, engulfing adjacent shelves. The thick and acrid smoke made it almost impossible to breathe.
Liu Junfeng and Lan Jianmin didn’t shrink back from the fierce blaze. “Take these burning boxes out to stop the fire from spreading! Quickly!” shouted Liu Junmin. Without a moment’s hesitation, the two of them rushed into the fire resolutely. Disregarding the intense heat that scorched their skin and the choking smoke that sent them to fits of coughing, they dragged the burning boxes out of the station with all their strength.
Salvage supplies
The staff of the neighboring Meiyijia store noticed their acts and also rushed over to help, calling 119 and grabbing dry powder extinguishers to participate in the firefighting immediately. However, the fire was too intense for the dry powder extinguisher to be effective.
In this critical moment, Liu Junfeng quickly assessed the situation and said, “Use water-based extinguishers!” Following his instructions, the team fought the fire effectively. After intense efforts, the fire gradually died down around 2:23 and the pungent smoke slowly dissipated.
However, Liu Junfeng and Lan Jianmin didn’t relax their vigilance and meticulously inspected every corner to prevent any re-ignition. Meanwhile, they also informed the store owner about the fire.
At 2:25, neighbors from around the project arrived one after another and proactively assisted the firefighters with the subsequent work. That night, all staff members of Binjiang Property service center at Xinlicheng stayed up to check the surveillance footage and reported the case to the police after successfully identifying the perpetrator.
The remarkable courage and the strong sense of responsibility demonstrated by Binjiang Property staff serving at Hangzhou Xinlicheng Center during this fire emergency have earned unanimous praise from both proprietors and merchants and made them firefighting heroes in the hearts of the residents.
